Data Sharing and Standardization

In the recently released discussion paper on "Building a Healthy Tomorrow", it said clearly that our future health care service delivery model should facilitate the best use of resources and provide the flexibility and dynamism necessary for the transition of patients between different levels of care and between the public and private sectors. To do that, it is essential to develop a system which enables free flow of patients’ records with the patient’s consent.

The "eHealth Consortium" aims to facilitate the Government and the IT and health care industries to create a system that allows free flow of patients' records. Our suggested initiatives include:

	White paper to investigate the Interoperability Framework for the health care industry
	White paper on Standardization of Health Data (posted on 11September 2006) Efficient Data Sharing in Healthcare (posted on 11September 2006)
	Survey to understand the use of IT among the healthcare industry, titled "Use of IT in Health Care Sector"
