Introduction

Recent development in the local healthcare sector makes the need to use IT more imminent. Although more doctors are becoming aware of the advantage of using IT in their daily practice, the increase in usage has been modest. As illustrated in the SARS outbreak, medical professionals, especially private doctors have such need to acquire the skills on health informatics.

The eHealth Consortium, with founding members from the Internet Professional Association, Hong Kong Society of Medical Informatics, Department of Health, Hospital Authority and the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, is now executing an educational project in hope to sustain the effort in promoting IT use in the healthcare sector.

This course, as the initial effort of the project, will focus on the application of eHealth technology and solution-based trainings on practical usage of common eHealth applications primarily for medical practitioners from private sector.
