picture archiving and communication system (PACS) research,
Professor Huang would provide insights in the design and
development of the system. The workshop will also cover
other image-related topics, useful in improving efficiencies in
data accuracy and workflow efficiency. Image and Data
Standards, IHE, and the concepts of Data Grid Fault-Tolerance
Archive System will be covered

Although the Hospital Authority’s 40 hospitals and 120 clinics are
using the same standards in the same system, there is a paramount
need for a healthcare information standardization process to be
established in Hong Kong to facilitate future interoperability and
communication between different public and private healthcare
institutions. The workshop aims to present the current scenario
and best practice in Hong Kong, while attempting to create a
consensus on the future development of a common Hong Kong standard
to achieve future EMR sharing. Concepts and experiences will be

workshop, representatives from the Department of Health and the
Hospital Authority will share useful tips and provide answers to
frequently asked questions on accessing the Electronic Patient
Records and the CENO (Central Notification Office) Online.
These 2 systems are now made available to the private sectors and
have been found to be useful and essential for future enhancement
of a community wide EMR and public health surveillance program |
