(II) Essential eHealth Skills Workshop

The Essential eHealth Skill Workshop (EESW) consisted of lectures, skills lab and eHealth Forum.  It focused on the application of eHealth technology and solution based trainings on practical usage of common eHealth application.

The participants were required to have some experience and knowledge in the use of information communication technologies.  The workshop combined theory, case studies, practical sessions, and hands-on training workshops.

The Workshop focused on 2 core themes, namely:

The Essential IT Skills for Clinic Management and

 eHealth Concept and Applications

 Feedbacks from the Participants

A questionnaire was given to the participants after the completion of the Workshop in August.  This was a valuable asset to the project team in terms of modifying the content.  Generally the feedback on the training was positive.  From the feedback, the participants considered that they would increase the use of IT in the clinic management.  The need of using IT was recognized by the private medical practitioners, but the need was not strong and the demand was generally not yet obvious.  If resources were given, it was recommended to re-run the Workshop and to explore more channels to increase the coverage of the course, e.g. e-learning packages and other electronic channels.

(III) The White Paper on Standardization of Health Data

With the hardwork from the Subcommittee on Data Sharing and Standardization, a White Paper on the Standardization of Health Data in Hong Kong was published and is now posted on the OGCIO website for information to any interested parties in the healthcare industry.

It contains useful materials for the industry to consider when developing healthcare software locally, so that in the future, the chance for interoperability and exchange of healthcare data between healthcare IT systems will be more feasible.  This is essential for the overall quality of healthcare for the citizens in Hong Kong.
